Argentina MotoGP Grand Prix Returns

The Argentine Grand Prix of MotoGP will take place this weekend, marking the return of the category to the country after two years. The race will be held at the Termas de Río Hondo Circuit in the province of Santiago del Estero, being the second competition of the season after Thailand, where Marc Márquez took victory in both the sprint race and the main event.

The first edition of this Grand Prix took place in 1961 at the Oscar and Juan Gálvez Autodrome, with Argentine Jorge Kissling, racing on a Matchless, as the winner. The following year, Benedicto Caldarella once again claimed victory for the locals with the same team. Over the years, this Grand Prix remained at the Gálvez until 1999, with Argentines not winning again.

MotoGP returned to Argentina in 2014, this time at the Termas de Río Hondo Circuit, gradually becoming a classic on the calendar. Among the top winners of the Argentine GP are Spain's Marc Márquez and Australia's Mick Doohan, each with three victories. Honda is the most successful brand at this circuit, with a total of seven wins.

At the Oscar and Juan Gálvez Autodrome, winners included, among others, Jorge Kissling, Benedicto Caldarella, Mick Doohan, and Kenny Roberts Jr. At the Termas de Río Hondo circuit, riders such as Marc Márquez, Valentino Rossi, Maverick Viñales, Cal Crutchlow, and more recently, Aleix Espargaró and Marco Bezzecchi triumphed.
